I tried colouring books, toys, crisps, sweets, the Wii, Ipad and even (yes, sorry to say it) my phone. But once the batteries had died, she got frustrated with a game or wanted to download another one - she kept coming back and interrupting me. I was at a complete loss of what to do! So I shouted a bit... and probably a bit more. 

Anyway, before I knew it, Violet had sat down next to me, taken a piece of kitchen roll, brushed off the biscuit crumbs and started doodling. She was filling in all the dents. It looked like quite a project to complete so I left her to it and to my surprise she was hooked. Dot after dot, creating a pattern and really captured her imagination. 

To my delight I finished my work before she had completed her pattern. "Look what I have done Daddy", Violet said proudly. It was very striking - she had created an impressive bight and colourful pattern from a blank white canvas. It far exceeded any of her previous freehand artwork, or any other child capable of holding a pen for that matter! We kept it as a memento. It was at that point Doodle Dents TM was born.    

I wondered if it would be successful a second time, and with our other children? So I put it to the test and to my surprise, they all loved it. Violet enjoyed explaining what to do to her brother, aged 8 and sister, aged 3. I watched all three of them sitting, chatting and doddling for a good hour or so. 

"Wouldn't it be great if we could create pictures of our favourite things, like animals?" we kept saying. We looked and looked but couldn't find any format of this style of arts & craft anywhere.  So we had some made. Lots in fact. We shared them with friends and family who also loved them. The children enjoyed the art whilst parents appreciated the benefits! The feedback was so positive that we came up with the name Doodle Dents TM and started our journey to share the joy...
